He was born in Haarlem in 1965. He was graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Department of Economics in 1986. In 1987-1996, he carried out tax inspections and other inspections and investigations assigned by the Ministry in connection with medium and big-scale companies as a member of the Accounting Experts Board in Ministry of Finance.

He resigned in 1996 and stared working as Financial Coordinator (CFO) in Eren Group of Companies. He contributed to the incorporation of the Holding and carried out activities for corporate organization. In addition, he performed and coordinated inspections and consultancy services and he managed many special projects on retail, tourism, paper, cement and energy for the employer.

In 2002, he started working as General Manager in Modern Karton A.S that is the biggest paper company in Turkey. He played a role in reorganization of Modern Karton and the process of entering into export markets.

He resigned from his position in the Holding in 2006 and started working as country director in the Austrian company Mayr-Melnhof AG (the biggest cardboard producer in the world). He reorganized the company that entered into Turkish market for the first time and formed the required teams. He developed customer channels and performed market penetration and launching activities.

Yavuz Gurkan has been running his own consultancy business since 2007 and provides auditing, consultancy, coaching, mentoring and training services. He received international ICF/AC coaching certificate upon completing required trainings in 2013. He has been authorized as independent auditor in 2014 by the Public Monitoring Authority. He has been listed in TUBITAK’s mentors database upon completing mentor trainings organized in 2016 by TUBITAK.

He also provides finance and management trainings aimed at business circles mostly within the scope of his own reorganization projects.
